Just 72 hours before the 2015/16 BHL Season is to open the Toe Dragons initiated a 3 way trade with Les Castors and Top Cheese to bring back Dragons fan-favourite James Eustace.
Eustace was instrumental in the Toe Dragons claiming the Backyard Cup Championship last season as he was in behind the scenes as a scout. This season, Dragons Captain Mike Harvey simply could not let James make his BHL playing debut in any other jersey than the red and navy blue.
The trade will also see the very active Top Cheese make history by being the first team in the history of the BHL to have two female players on thier roster to begin the season. Second-year BHLer Illina Rothi will add depth to an already strong defensive core and will make her debut for the Cheese this coming Monday night as she is currently playing in the inline nationals down in Hamilton.
Finally, Les Castors will bulk up by adding a true power forward to the mix. In 6'4 235lbs forward Paul Shorter, the black and gold has added a dedicated and effective checker who will battle for pucks along the boards and be key in helping to spring the potent offensive players on their roster. Shorter will get a chance to show the team who drafted him exactly what they were missing when he faces Top Cheese on Opening night this Thursday, Oct 1st.
