LES PHOQUES
The Seals have dominated the past 2 BHL regular season winning Back 2 Back Founder's Cups as the Top team in the BHL. They added to the success by taking the title of the 2017 CHOHOHO Tournament. Unfortunately, in 2017 that success didnt translate to the playoffs as Les Phoques was ousted from the Conference Finals in 4 games.

All 5 seasons of the BHL have seen a new franchise win the Cup ... Except the Seals ... with season 6 on the horizon ... Can they do it ?
ONE TO WATCH :
Josh Huckstep - F - Canada
The 10th Overall pick in this years draft. Great hockey
IQ, Better Guy. Responsible, deceptive speed,
can play in any situation and blessed with soft hands.
ON THE FARM :
Les Coqs have been the runner up for 2 seasons in a row after consecutive Game 5 loses to the Sauce. Keeping that in min, the Roosters have plumped up thier FHL Squad for 2018 with the addition of veterans Rob Moon, Jeremy Allen and Benji Potvin. The Coqs look poised to reach the final in thier 3rd consecutive season.

TOP CHEESE
Top Cheese have always been viewed as a team
with great depth and this year should be similar. The Cheese retained a remarkable 12 players from thier Backyard Cup winning BHL Squad . In addition, the Cheese were able to build from within as they have named last seasons FHL Scoring Champ Tyler Ireton & FHL Playoff MVP, Ravil Gabaydullin to the Squad for 2018. Joel Rindelaub has also come out from behind the mask and will suit up as a forward after a gruelling NZIHL Rookie Season in the pipes.
Forwards:
Andy Hart - Dylan Dickson - Cam Green
Jared D'Amico - Jeff Albert - Tyrell Peak
Ravil Gabaydullin - Joel Rindelaub - Tyler Ireton
Defenceman:
Cameron McLeod Blake Jackson
Justin Daigle Jack Hull
Steve Barati Brian Grove
Goaltender:
Xavier Wallach*
BURNING QUESTION: No Team has won a 2nd BHL Title ... Nuff Said ?
ONE TO WATCH: Xavier Wallach - G - France
After being taken with the 9th Overall Pick, "X" becomes
just the 3rd Goaltender in the Franchises history. The
French Inline goaltender could prove
to be the steal of the draft, should be able find his
form early and often ... only time will tell.
THE FARM: After a repeat as Champions in 2018,the Top Cheese affiliate will look to go for 3 in a row. Kyle Kaliniak and Chris Kelly return as the leaders and the assignment of West Auckland Admirals Head Coach Csaba to the Sauce should help with the development of the newly acquired players from later rounds of the draft.

ICEHOLES
The Iceholes have completely revamped an already stacked roster with several transactions in search of a 2nd BHL Title in 2018. 5 Seasons, 5 New Champions.
To help them become the first team to win a second final they have acquired several studs. A trade brought 2nd All Time BHL Point scorer Stephen Mawson into the fray, and a draft day trade saw the Holes add Ice Blacks Captain Nick Craig and 3rd All Time BHL scorer Vadim Novikov. The offence will be potent once again.
Forwards:
Vadim Novikov - Ritchie Hopkinson - Vinny Cistrone
KC Ball - Chase Koolen - Stephen Vlok
Ryan Chadwick - Brad Parsonson - Dan Chadwick
Defencemen:
Nick Craig* Devin Fennell
Eric Chung Robin Alden*
Joel Jefferies Stephen Mawson
Goaltender:
Mikey Hopkinson
BURNING QUESTION: Can the become the first
BHL Franchise to win a 2nd Backyard Cup?
ONE TO WATCH: Micheal Hopkinson - G - New Zealand
Hoppy must return to form of 2017 in order for the Holes to get back to the finals. His focus must be lazer sharp as the Holes only weaknesses are clearly on the backend.
THE FARM:The HYDE factor will most definately have
an impact here. The Hyde family has not returned for this season, leaving a huge hole to fill. Newly minted Captain, Phil Mossop has the task of leading the newly assembled group into the unknown of the FHL Landscape.

LES PYLONES
Skill and comeraderie are Les Pylones formula for
success. The red machine has been the team that
always competes hard and enjoys playing as a unit.
After losing perennial BHL Allstar Robbie Chamberlain
who has taken the GM Position with the Toe Dragons, the Pylons completed a trade for the Luggen Brothers which should shape thier future from the net out.
Forwards:
Logan Gilliard - Tim McKay - Lukas Birgel*
Ed Atkinson* - James Currey - Kieran Judge
Daren Spencer - Richard DeVere - Gary Goodall
Defencemen:
Andy Hay* Dmitriy Chaykovskiy
Sean Fullan Phil Lyle
Alex Luggen Mike Luggen
Goaltender:
Tony Simmis
BURNING QUESTION: Can the Red Machine recovery from the loss of Robbie, return to thier post-season form from year's past, retain some of that magic and become
the first BHL team to claim two Backyard Cups ?
ONE TO WATCH:
Andy Hay - D - New Zealand
Andy has served as a longtime New Zealand Ice Blacks DMan and is the current skipper of the NZIHL's Botany Swarm. A natural born leader. If he can adjust his game to suit the BHL style he has the Hockey IQ & skill set to completely take over games.
THE FARM: Les Cones went off the board at 20th Overall in the BHL draft by securing thier Goaltender of the future with the signing of top prosepect Maia Rata. He will most certainly be and integral part of the rebuild as the Red Machines affiliate moves forward and tries to make the playoff leap into the later rounds.

TOE DRAGONS
The Toe Dragons made a major overhaul of their
roster this season after losing original GMs Mike Harvey and Jordan Hills, the Dragons have a new sheriff in town. Former West Auckland Admirals Skipper, Robbie Chamberlain will take the reigns as the head of the franchise. Armed with number one pick, the Dragons selected a few perennial BHL playmakers such as Ice Blacks Jordan Challis , Shaun Harrison and Gareth McLiesh. The youth has also been a focus and the talent the Dragons possess will only further thier development moving forward.
Forwards:
Robbie Chamberlain - Jordan Challis - Matt Taylor
Johnnie Andrews-Nye - Sam Kay - Adam Laycock
Taylor Campbell - Rachel Park - Peter Oikin
Defencemen:
Shaun Dickinson Gareth McLeish
Evan Terlesk Shawn Harrison
Damien Peters Chris Jefferies
Goaltenders:
Greg Davis & Shawn Henry
BURNING QUESTION: After a complete franchise
change and the installation of a new leadership group will thier fortunes change and allow the Dragons to raise the silver chalice for the 2nd time in 4 years ?
ONE TO WATCH:
Shaun Dickinson - F/D - United Kingdom
Dickinson is a playmaker pure and simple and it was the Toe Dragons who benefitted when BHL Veteran declared his desire to return. Dickie will instantly become the newest version of a true quarterback of the Dragons powerplay and offensive attack.
THE FARM:
Familiar faces will adorn the Tip Insects roster in 2018. The reunion will see 8 roster spots filled by members of
the 2014 / 2015 Backyard Cup Championship team.
The team will also look to improve on thier season from 2017 in which they secured the first round bye but lost in the 3rd and deciding game of the FHL Semi Finals. Can comeraderie prevail and reignite the winning ways forthe Toe Dragons affiliate ? That remains to be seen.

LES CASTORS
After posting the 2nd worst record in the regular season, Les Castors shocked everyone knocking off the top seed to return to the Finals. Featuring one of the premier goaltenders in the country in West Auckland Admiral and New Zealand Ice Blacks starter Csaba Kerco-Magos Jr. Season 6 will also mark the third Leadership change in as many seasons for the Beavers. The first move was a bold one ... as BHL Co-Founder and Les Castors founders,
Benji Potvin & Jeremy Allen were traded to Les Phoques in order to bolster the clubs FHL Affiliate. They fthen selected Mike Attwell at number 5 and followed that up with sending Les Castors career points leader Stephen Mawson to the Iceholes for Ice Black Josh Hay.
Forwards:
Josh Hay - Eric DeWit - Sam Pillidge
Eddie Commons* - Matt Fuscic - Mike Dobbs
Chad Croft - Sean Abe - Ivan Kitslitskiy
Defencemen:
Mike Attwell Richard Cowsill
Hamish Lewis Matt Gaffikin
Dwayne Maki Joe Durie
Goaltender:
Csaba Kersco-Magos Jr.
BURNING QUESTION:
Can the Beavers overcome the high expectations and projections, adapt to a bunch of changes to thier roster and return to the Backyard Cup Finals for a 3rd time in 4 years ?
ONE TO WATCH:
Josh Hay - F - New Zealand
After an extremely productive role this winter with the Swarm and being selected to the Ice Blacks, Josh is ready to take that top offensive role with a BHL club. If he can power through the Backyard with the same ease, the Beavers will again be a very dangerous team to play night in and night out.
THE FARM:
The Lumberjacks of 2017 / 18 Season were hands down the biggest improved team from the Inaugural Season of the FHL after the improved thier points total by 15 pts. Newly minted FHL captain Curtis Crosswhite will tend to the netminding duties after sitting out the majority of last season due to injury. The trade that sent Benji and Jeremy to the Roosters could prove valuable as the Lumberjacks picked up two great prospects in the deal.
