CHO HO HO Tournament Update - Nov 25th

Hello and good day,

The Caretakers of Camorra Hockey & the Backyard Hockey League would like to thank you for registering  your team to participate in the massive event that will be the first ever Camorra/Hockey House Holiday Classic aka. The CHO HO HO Tourney . Your interest has now reserved you and your club a spot in the “SANTA CLAUS” Division of the largest recreational ice hockey tournament to ever hit New Zealand. This is going to be epic.

The tournament will be held November 28^th – December 3^rd  at both Auckland Rinks. These rinks have come to be known as Avondale Square Gardens and the Botany Forum. (Formerly Paradice Avondale & Paradice Botany). The main Headquarters for the Tournament will be held in the Tavern located above the main lobby of the arena at Avondale Square Gardens.

The tournament will feature 14 teams playing in 2 different grades (A&B) with players ranging from current and former New Zealand Ice Blacks to players that play socially and others that have just picked up the game. This tournament will be about the beautiful game that we all live and breathe. Our hope, is that this gathering of toothless bandits is as much about having fun, sharing stories, expressing our passion, and love for the game as it will be about dropping some classic chirps, burying it cheddar and laying some stick to stick sauce.

The competition will be amongst of the best in any recreational league in the country and the games will be both fun & fierce. We will play under the current BHL Rulebook which features a few modifications that will be sent to you once your team has confirmed registration, but the BHL Rulebook and this tournament has one main rule … NO DICKS !!! If you have a guy like Sean Avery in your locker room, do us all a favour and leave him at home. The CHO HO HO Tourney is  about having fun, playing some hockey, downing a few bevvys with the Boys (and Girls) …  not about ego !!! We are all in this together and together we are going to make New Zealand Ice Hockey History !!!

In addition to the on-ice festivities there will also be a fully functioning bar at each facility above the lobby … DRINKS have been subsidised for all tournament participants ….. We will also have a plethora of CHOHOHO swag available for purchase …. DO NOT MISS the CHOHOHO17 Tournament social mixer on Friday, December 1^st @ 7pm @ Doolan Brothers in Lynfield. ( 570 Hillsborough Road, Lynfield, Auckland).

Saturday will also involve a Livestream via the NZ Hockey House FaceBook Page as well a a mini-market and outdoor ball hockey during the day at the Avondale Arena …

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

• 5 Games Guaranteed
• 3 Games played before Social event on Friday
• Teams are then re ranked 1-7 in their respective divisions and will enter into the elimination bracket on Saturday (Announced at Social Event)

POINT SYSTEM

3pts = Regulation Win / 2pts = Shootout Win / 1pt = Shootout Loss

Most Points = Highest Rank

If Still Tied, Goals for ONLY

GAMEDAY PROCEDURE

Team Managers will be Given Team Lists prior to first game …. One is to be completed and given to scorekeeper prior to commencement of each game you play OR your stats will suck LOL It’s all about the stats LOL

LIVE SCORING & LIVESTREAM

The entire tournament can be followed by anyone with WIFI

Website www.nzbhl.com will be updated after every hour of the tournament and after everygame

All of Saturday’s games at Avondale will be LIVE Streamed over the NZ Hockey House FB Page

The Livestream will be linked to the Bar in the Botany rink (so you can watch the Avondale games and Botany games at the same time)

The BHL would ask that each team sign a release for rights to film for an upcoming documentary    www.thehockeyfilm.co.nz

(If your team or members of your team do not want to be filmed …. Please let us know as we intend to respect everyone and have everyone feel comfortable throughout the tourney)

SWAG & PRIZES

Each Team member will receive a gift from the BHL and Camorra Hockey following their first Game

Winning Teams will have team Name engraved on the yet to be named Cup and each winning team member will recive a Medal to keep

Winning team will also receive an automatic invite to defend their title at the next CHOHOHO
